Biodiversity – Linking Science to Practice

February 27 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

The Alumni Association of IIFM proudly presents an enriching session under the Friends of IIFM series featuring Prof. K. VijayRaghavan, one of India’s most distinguished scientific leaders. A Professor Emeritus and Homi Bhabha Chair at NCBS, and former Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, Prof. VijayRaghavan brings decades of experience in science policy, research leadership, and national institution building.

This special conversation will focus on “Biodiversity – Linking Science to Practice,” exploring how scientific research can effectively inform conservation strategies, sustainable development, and policy implementation. Drawing from his tenure as Director of NCBS (TIFR), Secretary to the Department of Biotechnology, and Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, he will share insights on bridging the gap between knowledge generation and real-world environmental action.

The discussion will also feature Dr. K. Ravichandran, IFS, Director, IIFM Bhopal, and Swapan Mehra, CEO of IORA Ecological Solutions and IIFM alumnus, who will add practitioner and institutional perspectives to the dialogue.

Join us for this thought-provoking interaction as we examine how science, governance, and practice can come together to safeguard biodiversity and shape a sustainable future.
